FAQ

When was Carterville Christian Preparatory School established?
CCPA was established in the fall of 2013 and opened its doors for its first year of instruction in fall 2014 as a non-denominational school
founded on Christian beliefs.

How is the school run?
It is run by a board of directors that consists of parents, community members and teachers.

What grades do you teach?
CCPA teaches Pre-K4 through Grade 6.

What are your teachers’ qualifications?
Our teachers are all required to submit a statement of their Christian faith and have a heart for serving the Lord above all. In addition, all full-time staff hold or have previously held teaching certificates.

Do you have to be Christian to attend this school?
No, but parents should understand that our school is founded on Christian beliefs and expect that our students will be exposed to scripture, prayer and taught in an environment that centers on Jesus Christ and his teachings.

What kind of curriculum do you use?
Our school believes in a well-rounded curriculum that will help our students attain mastery in Math, Reading and Language Arts, Science, History, as well as the Fine Arts. We will use a combination of the best Christian and secular publishers including but not limited to Superkids, Shurley English, Bob Jones and Saxon Math. We will use current technologies when teaching curriculum at all levels of instruction. Students will obtain a confidence using computers, IPADs and similar technology while in attendance at CCPA. We have an annual, non-refundable $225 enrollment fee which covers the cost of curriculum.

Do you have a Bible curriculum?
We believe that the bulk of a child’s biblical education should come from their parents and the church. Our daily curriculum is faith based and does contain scripture, but we do not employ teaching methods such as the rote memorization of verses. Our students are taught about Jesus through focusing on character traits, by serving their community with a monthly service project and through the Christian example of our faculty and staff.

How many students will you have in a general school year?
We will average between 75-100 students. The school board has established a maximum occupancy of 10 students per class for our Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade classes and a maximum of 15 for Grades 2-5.

Do you have buses?
No. Students are transported by their parents.

What time does school start and end?
All grades begin their day at 8:00 am. Part time Pre-K is a half day Monday through Friday. The rest of the school dismisses promptly at 3:00 pm.

Do you have a cafeteria?
No, students are required to bring their lunch every day. Microwaves are available.

Do you have an after-school care program?
We have an after-care program available from 3-5:30 pm each school day for a fee of $3/hr.

Does CCPA have a Special Needs program?
Carterville Christian Preparatory Academy accepts children who are able to work at grade level. We do not have staff for meeting the needs of children with special learning difficulties.
